Lawrence of Arabia~1962

This weeks film is about an actually person who served during WWI his name was T.E. Lawrence.  The movie revolves around how Lawrence helped the Arabs reclaim your freedom and life from the Turkish army.  The reason why I mention such a movie is because it shows the psychologically damage that happened to one man and the blossoming of a nation from it.  It is pretty long movie above 3 hours but I feel that you'll all enjoy the performances from it.

The Purple Cow
I never saw a purple cow
I hope I never see one,
But I can tell you this right now:
I'd rather see than be one.

Some time later….

Ah yes, I wrote "The Purple Cow"
I'm Sorry now I wrote it
But I can tell you Anyhow
I'll Kill you if you Quote it!

Metropolis~1927

That is right you crazy movie fans it is Friday movie of the week and guess what today's is?  That's right it is the old time movie classic Metropolis.  This wonderful film was made back in 1927 by Fritz Lang.  The film is a silent one and it was also in black and white to no surprise.  However, it was the most expensive project at it's time costing a pocket ripping 5 million Reichsmarks (I looked for current currency conversions and sadly no dice sorry friends). The film, is not a short one; it's about 153 minutes long but when I saw the movie I admit it was well worth the wait to see all the twist and turns of the story. What was even better this was suppose to be a city in the future which is kinda funny to see what the people back then thought the future would look like. So, that's about it for now hope you go and watch the movie to see how grand a old classic like this can be.

Sunday Poem

Leave me a recommendation of what poem you want to see on the blog every Sunday or I'll pick one at random to encourage all of you to participate more you lazy bones haha.

If~Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Forbidden Planet ~1956

This film made in 1956 is a cult classic of sci-fi that is a must for anyone.  It help influence Gene Roddenberry to create Star Trek and many other areas of science fiction.  It may seem outdated for today's standards but if you look past that you would see a movie worth buying and re-watching in the future.  Plus did I forget to mention it's in color.
